M&S Dundee

SDA have been involved with the successful conversion a former DW Sports & Fitness store and vacant Mothercare unit, into a new M&S Department Store at Gallagher Retail Park, Dundee.

Initial works focused on the complete internal strip-out, removal of existing concrete floors, and swimming pool. Additionally, the separating party wall between the units was removed to create a larger, unified space for the new store.

External shell modifications were carried out including new entrances, glazed rainscreens, and cladding that reflected M&S’s contemporary retail design.

Further works included extensive roof improvements, retention and removal of certain existing services, integration of ventilation systems, extension of external plant areas and upgrades to hardstanding and car parking areas.

SDA collaborated closely with the client, British Steel Pension Fund Trustees Ltd, CSQ (Project Managers), Quattro Consult Limited (Structural Engineers), KJ Tait (M&E Consultants) and Luddon Construction (Main Contractor), on the successful completion of this store.

The store opened on Tuesday, July 16th 2024.
